Letter to Mary

Someone else is looking in my mirror
Someone else is sleeping in my bed
Someone else is drinking all my liquor
Someone else that treats you bad

The someone else that used to love you
Someone else that used to care
That someone else is on the run dear
For all the shadows everywhere

And why
You won’t find me here
Well I wish that I could tell you Mary
How I wish that I could share

But someone else is not well spoken
Someone is rather numb
Cause his demons made him thirsty
They changed his water into rum

Someone else became a drifter
And I don’t know if he will land
So his vow and lifelong promise
Might just be written in the sand

And why
You won’t find me here
Well I wish that I could tell you Mary
How I wish that I could share
How I wish that I had told you Mary
When we still had words to share

But our words were left unspoken
All our fears remained unsaid
Silence turned into this token
Of two strangers …in a bed
